Contributor-level custom-field disclosure via unchecked shortcode references
Published Jun 20, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2025
Authorization bypass in Advanced Custom Fields and ACF PRO before 6.3 allows remote authenticated users to read custom fields via shortcode. The ACF shortcode accepts attacker-chosen post IDs and field names, then renders the referenced post metadata without verifying access to that post or field. Contributor-level access and knowledge or guessing of a field key are required, and exposed data can include private-post or options-page values.
