CVE-2024-45590Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Denial of service via unbounded nesting depth

Published Sep 10, 2024 · Updated Sep 10, 2024

Resource consumption in Express.js body-parser before 1.20.3 allows remote attackers to interrupt services with URL-encoded requests. The extended URL-encoded parser passes attacker-controlled nested keys to qs.parse with depth set to Infinity, allowing deeply nested objects to consume disproportionate processing resources. The route must use URL-encoded parsing with extended enabled; unauthenticated requests can exhaust server resources without reading or changing data.
