CVE-2024-45548

Local memory corruption via FIPS validation IOCTL

Published Jan 6, 2025 · Updated Jan 6, 2025

Buffer over-read in Qualcomm Snapdragon firmware allows local users to trigger memory corruption through a FIPS validation IOCTL call. The proprietary IOCTL handler reads beyond a buffer boundary while processing encryption or decryption validation input; Qualcomm has not named the function or buffer. Access requires a low-privileged local context and no user interaction; Qualcomm has not published whether exploitation yields data access, code execution, or a service interruption.
