CVE-2024-45519Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated command execution via unsanitized recipient addresses

Published Oct 2, 2024 · Updated Feb 3, 2026

OS command injection in affected Zimbra Collaboration releases allows remote attackers to execute commands via crafted SMTP recipient addresses. The postjournal read_maps path embeds a recipient address in a command string and passes it unsanitized to popen, allowing $() shell substitution. Exploitation requires the disabled-by-default postjournal service and SMTP relay acceptance; successful commands run as the Zimbra service user.
