CVE-2024-45508Public exploit

Application crash via whitespace-only HTML node handling

Published Sep 1, 2024 · Updated Sep 3, 2024

Out-of-bounds write in HTMLDOC before 1.9.19 allows context-dependent attackers to crash document conversion with crafted HTML. In parse_paragraph in ps-pdf.cxx, the leading-space loop shifts bytes through a one-character whitespace-only node and writes past its buffer. The attacker must cause HTMLDOC to process the document; the published proof of concept demonstrates a write-triggered segmentation fault and application abort, not code execution.
