CVE-2024-45453Network attack vector

Unauthenticated maintenance bypass via spoofed client IP

Published Sep 23, 2024 · Updated Apr 28, 2026

Authentication bypass in Peter Hardy-vanDoorn Maintenance Redirect 2.0.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to view maintenance-gated pages. The IP-whitelist check treats the client-controlled X-Forwarded-For header as the visitor address without establishing a trusted proxy. Exploitation requires maintenance mode and an IP allowlist entry; a forged matching address exposes only pages hidden by the plugin, not WordPress REST endpoints.
