Arbitrary file write via unchecked ZIP paths
Published Aug 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 29, 2024
Path traversal in Ollama before 0.1.47 allows remote attackers to write files outside the model extraction directory via a crafted ZIP archive. The extractFromZipFile function joins each ZIP member name to a temporary directory and creates the resulting path without first verifying that it remains beneath that directory. Remote attackers need network access to the unauthenticated API; writes are limited by the Ollama process filesystem permissions.
