Root code execution via unvalidated session scripts
Published Sep 16, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024
Code execution in ZTE ZXHN router firmware allows remote attackers to run attacker-supplied Lua files as root through HTTPD. The session_init function executes every file in /var/lua_session with Lua dofile without checking that the file is a valid session script. Exploitation requires a path to write a malicious file into that directory; successful execution grants root-level control of the router.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
