CVE-2024-45399Network attack vector

Script execution via unchecked redirect URL scheme

Published Sep 4, 2024 · Updated Sep 4, 2024

Cross-site scripting in CERN Indico before 3.3.4 allows remote attackers to execute script in a new user's browser through a crafted signup link. Flask-Multipass validate_next_url accepts a javascript scheme because it checks only for a foreign network location, and Indico redirects to that value after account creation. A victim must open the malicious link and complete signup; execution is limited to the newly created, unprivileged account's browser context.
