CVE-2024-45395Network attack vector

Service interruption via unbounded bundle verification

Published Sep 4, 2024 · Updated Sep 5, 2024

Denial of service in Sigstore sigstore-go before 0.6.1 allows attackers to interrupt verification with a crafted bundle. Verification functions iterate without limits over signed log entries, RFC 3161 timestamps, attestation subjects, and subject digests, performing costly validation for each item. An application must pass an attacker-controlled bundle to the verifier; excessive entries consume CPU and memory until verification fails to complete and dependent services are disrupted.
