CVE-2024-4539Network attack vector

Service interruption via unbounded branch and tag filtering

Published May 9, 2024 · Updated Oct 3, 2024

Resource exhaustion in affected GitLab CE/EE releases allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service through branch and tag API filters. The filtering path allocates resources without adequate limits or throttling, but GitLab has not disclosed the responsible code path or request shape. A low-privileged account and network access are required; repeated requests degrade availability, with no reported data exposure or modification.
