CVE-2024-45388Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary file read via traversal segments

Published Sep 2, 2024 · Updated Sep 3, 2024

Path traversal in SpectoLabs Hoverfly before 1.10.3 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files through the simulation API. The simulation POST handler joins an untrusted bodyFile value to hf.Cfg.ResponsesBodyFilesPath without verifying that the resolved path stays beneath that directory. Exploitation requires network access to the admin API, which is not exposed publicly by default; successful requests disclose files readable by the Hoverfly process.
