CVE-2024-45331

Local privilege escalation via specific shell commands

Published Jan 16, 2025 · Updated Jul 8, 2026

Privilege escalation in Fortinet FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiAnalyzer Cloud allows local users to gain higher privileges. Fortinet identifies only specific shell commands as the trigger and has not disclosed the commands or the privilege-assignment logic that handles them incorrectly. Exploitation requires local low-privilege access and user interaction; successful escalation grants control over appliance data and operation.
