Code execution via unauthenticated package downloads
Published Aug 27, 2024 · Updated Sep 6, 2024
Code execution in Perl App::cpanminus 1.7047 and earlier allows remote attackers to replace CPAN packages downloaded over HTTP. The default mirror and metadata endpoints use unauthenticated HTTP, so downloaded distributions receive no transport-integrity protection. An attacker must intercept outbound traffic during default-configured package retrieval; substituted package code runs with the cpanm process's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
