CVE-2024-45320

Printer freeze via unchecked PJL data length

Published Feb 18, 2025 · Updated Feb 18, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in DocuPrint CP225w, CP228w, CM225fw, and CM228fw firmware allows remote attackers to freeze the printer via a crafted PJL job. Firmware logic fails to verify loaded data length before writing it into a designated buffer, permitting an out-of-bounds write. The printer must process an invalid PJL print-job file received from an adjacent network; the documented consequence is a freeze requiring a reboot.
