CVE-2024-45305Public exploit

Credential disclosure via misclassified repository configuration

Published Sep 2, 2024 · Updated Sep 3, 2024

Configuration-scope confusion in GitoxideLabs gix-path before 0.10.10 allows context-dependent attackers to read repository credentials. The installation_config functions parse the first git config --show-origin result and misclassify repository-local configuration as installation-wide when higher scopes are empty. Exploitation requires a victim operation on another repository from the configured repository; affected settings can then reach that repository's remote.
