CVE-2024-45299Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Event-page denial of service via unescaped JSON

Published Sep 6, 2024 · Updated Sep 6, 2024

Improper output encoding in alf.io before 2.0-M5 allows remote authenticated users to render event pages blank through customized text. IndexController.buildScripTag inserts administrator-controlled preload JSON directly into a script text node, allowing a closing script sequence to terminate the JSON and break client-side parsing. Administrator or event-administrator access is required; Content Security Policy blocks injected script execution, limiting the demonstrated impact to an empty event page and parsing errors.
