VPN connection interruption via weak generated credentials
Published Oct 15, 2024 · Updated Oct 16, 2024
Weak credentials in MB connect line and Helmholz remote service portals 2.16.2 and earlier allow remote attackers to interrupt VPN connections. The portal back end generates the initial VPN password as only eight uppercase alphanumeric characters and stores it in router configuration archives used to build OpenVPN credential files. Unauthenticated network access to the VPN endpoint is sufficient for password guessing, and successful guessing terminates the existing device connection.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
