Root command execution via unsigned Lua configuration
Published Oct 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 26, 2025
Code injection in MB connect line mbNET.mini and Helmholz REX 100 firmware 2.2.13 and earlier allows local users to execute commands as root. The configuration importer accepts an unsigned TAR archive, extracts its bundled Lua runtime, and executes main.lua with root privileges without validating its contents. Access to the device's USB port or unauthenticated local-network configuration upload is required, and successful exploitation fully compromises the appliance.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
