Site-content modification via unprotected hero-image AJAX actions
Published Sep 1, 2024 · Updated Mar 13, 2025
Cross-site request forgery in Sayful Islam Carousel Slider before 2.2.4 allows remote attackers to alter site content through a crafted page. The hero-carousel AJAX actions accepted state-changing image-selection requests without verifying a WordPress nonce or checking the user's permission. A logged-in WordPress user must visit the attacker-controlled page, and the resulting request changes hero-carousel content with that user's session.
