Route-validation crash via non-canonical signed attributes
Published Aug 24, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Denial of service in NIC Mexico FORT Validator before 1.6.3 allows remote attackers to crash route-origin validation via crafted RPKI objects. The BER decoder accepts non-canonical signedAttrs in an ROA or Manifest and passes them to a DER-only code path that panics on the encoding. The object must come from a malicious repository beneath a trusted Trust Anchor; the resulting crash interrupts Route Origin Validation and can undermine routing decisions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
