Root privilege escalation via passwordless sudo commands
Published Sep 5, 2024 · Updated Sep 6, 2024
Improper privilege management in C-MOR Video Surveillance 5.2401 and 6.00PL01 allows local users to gain root access through sudo. The sudo policy lets the www-data account run cp, chown, and chmod as root without a password, enabling replacement of /etc/sudoers. Shell access as www-data is required; exploitation grants unrestricted root command execution and control of the surveillance server.
