Policy disabling via direct Admin-page access
Published Nov 4, 2024 · Updated Nov 6, 2024
Incorrect authorization in Akamai SIA ThreatAvert 19.2.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to disable policy enforcement. The ThreatAvert Policy page hides its Admin control from standard users but accepts direct navigation to /#app/intelligence/threatAvertPolicies and exposes policy enable and disable operations. Exploitation requires a carrier employee assigned the nondefault standard ThreatAvert role, and policy changes affect protections for inbound DNS queries.
