CVE-2024-45086Network attack vector

Sensitive data exposure via external XML entities

Published Nov 4, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2024

XXE in the administrative console of IBM WebSphere Application Server 8.5 and 9.0 allows remote authenticated users to read sensitive data. The console processes attacker-controlled XML without sufficiently restricting external entity references, but IBM has not disclosed the affected request handler or parser. Administrative privileges are required; successful exploitation reads server-accessible information or consumes memory and degrades availability.
