CVE-2024-45062Public exploit

Root code execution via unchecked dimension copy

Published Aug 19, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in OpenPrinting ippusbxd 1.34 allows physically proximate attackers to execute code as root via a malicious USB printer. The get_format_paper function copies attacker-controlled media-size-supported dimension strings into 255-byte stack buffers with strncpy lengths derived from the input rather than destination size. Exploitation requires physical connection of a crafted IPP-over-USB printer and can crash the daemon or execute arbitrary code with root privileges.
