Authenticated API access via omitted authorization scopes
Published Aug 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2024
Incorrect authorization in AWS CDK 2.142.0 through 2.148.0 allows remote authenticated users to read or modify protected API data. In aws-apigateway Method synthesis, authorizationScopes is emitted only when authorizationTypeOptions resolves to Cognito, but that optional value can be unset even when CognitoUserPoolAuthorizer supplies the effective type. Exposure requires a RestApi using CognitoUserPoolAuthorizer with scopes and deployment from an affected release; valid Cognito access then reaches methods outside the token's scopes.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
