CVE-2024-45011

Kernel crash via unvalidated XillyUSB endpoints

Published Sep 11, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Improper USB endpoint validation in the Linux XillyUSB driver allows physically proximate attackers to crash the kernel with a crafted device. The xillyusb_setup_base_eps and setup_channels paths trust endpoint numbers from the device and its IDT without verifying that each endpoint exists and uses Bulk IN or Bulk OUT as expected. Exploitation requires access to attach or emulate a malformed XillyUSB device; the resulting kernel failure interrupts the host rather than exposing or modifying data.
