CVE-2024-45001Network attack vector

Kernel panic via misaligned MANA RX buffer

Published Sep 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Buffer misalignment in the MANA driver in Linux allows remote attackers to trigger a kernel panic through received network traffic. The RX allocation size passed to napi_build_skb() can place skb_shinfo(skb)->dataref at an address unsuitable for atomic operations. The affected path requires an ARM64 system using the MANA receive path, and the resulting alignment fault interrupts the host rather than disclosing or modifying data.
