CVE-2024-44988

Kernel memory corruption via unchecked ATU port index

Published Sep 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in Linux's mv88e6xxx DSA driver allows adjacent attackers to corrupt kernel memory through a CPU Load ATU violation. The mv88e6xxx_g1_atu_prob_irq_thread_fn handler uses the reported SPID as a chip->ports array index without first checking its bounds. Exploitation requires Layer 2 access to a Marvell DSA switch port, and the triggering traffic does not cross a router.
