CVE-2024-44984Network attack vector

Kernel state corruption via double DMA unmapping

Published Sep 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Improper DMA handling in affected Linux 6.6 through 6.11-rc4 builds allows remote attackers to corrupt DMA state via XDP packets. The bnxt_rx_xdp XDP_REDIRECT path calls dma_unmap_page_attrs on a page-pool-owned mapping, causing the page pool to unmap the same DMA page again. Reachability requires a bnxt_en interface using XDP_REDIRECT and page-pool DMA mapping; the published trace establishes an IOMMU warning, not a demonstrated crash.
