System reset via suppressed GPU recovery error

Denial of service in the Linux kernel's amdgpu driver allows local users to trigger a system hard reset via hanging GPU jobs. In amdgpu_job_timedout, successful soft recovery is not reported as a failed job fence to userspace, so applications continue submitting hanging command buffers. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access, an AMD GPU using amdgpu, and a GPU job hang; repeated submissions turn a recoverable fault into a host reset.
