CVE-2024-44933

Service interruption via stale RSS table index

Published Aug 26, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Out-of-bounds memory access in the Linux kernel bnxt_en driver 6.10.4 allows local users to interrupt service by changing NIC channels. An incorrect ring-count comparison can leave the RSS indirection table sized for the previous RX-ring count, so bnxt_fill_hw_rss_tbl() later indexes beyond the table. The trigger requires a Broadcom bnxt_en device with older firmware that does not reserve RX rings; changing TX or RX rings can reach the faulty path and interrupt host operation.
