CVE-2024-44744Public exploit

Code execution via trailing-dot path inspection bypass

Published Oct 1, 2024 · Updated Oct 4, 2024

Code execution in Malwarebytes Premium Security 5.0.0.883 allows local users to run crafted binaries from specially named Windows folders. Its path inspection treats Win32 and NT path representations inconsistently, so a trailing-dot directory bypasses normal malware checks when NtCreateUserProcess launches the file. The demonstration requires local file placement and direct API use; Malwarebytes disputes practical exploitation because only administrators can alter the relevant contents.
