CVE-2024-44674Public exploit

Authenticated control-flow overwrite via unchecked Referer copy

Published Oct 7, 2024 · Updated Oct 7, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in D-Link COVR-2600R Firmware 1.01b05 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite control data via HTTP Referer. In sub_24E28, an unchecked strcpy copies the attacker-controlled HTTP_REFERER environment value into a stack buffer and can overwrite the return address. Access to the LAN-side HNAP interface and a valid administrative session are required; the published proof of concept demonstrates control of the overwrite but not arbitrary code execution.
