Root command execution via crafted update filename
Published Oct 1, 2024 · Updated Oct 2, 2024
Command injection in PCAN-Ethernet Gateway FD DR before 1.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The processing.php update handler executes shell metacharacters from an uploaded package filename, while the sudo-enabled /home/peak/updater calls system() on its filename argument. Valid web-interface credentials and LAN reachability are required; successful exploitation starts a root bind shell and grants full appliance control.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
