CVE-2024-44400Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated command execution via insufficient path filtering

Published Sep 4, 2024 · Updated Oct 11, 2024

Command injection in D-Link DI-8400 16.07.26A1 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands through the path parameter. The upgrade_filter_asp function in upgrade_filter.asp checks only that path exists and begins with http:// before concatenating it into a system command, leaving shell metacharacters unfiltered. The published exploit uses an administrative web session and injects a backtick-delimited command that writes process output to the device.
