Authenticated command execution via crafted upgrade path
Published Aug 23, 2024 · Updated Aug 23, 2024
Command injection in D-Link DI-8004W firmware 16.07.26A1 allows remote authenticated users to execute shell commands via HTTP. The jhttpd upgrade_filter_asp handler incorporates the path query value into a shell-evaluated operation without neutralizing backtick command substitution. The published request requires an administrator session on the adjacent management interface and demonstrates arbitrary command execution by invoking wget.
