Kernel code execution via ASP TCP buffer overflow
Published Nov 19, 2024 · Updated Apr 2, 2026
A buffer overflow in ASP TCP in Apple macOS Sonoma before 14.6 allows local users to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. Apple identifies the locus as ASP TCP but has not published which buffer operation lacks adequate memory handling. Execution requires a local application to reach the flawed kernel component; successful exploitation grants kernel privileges.
