CVE-2024-44243Public exploit

SIP bypass via unvalidated filesystem-bundle executables

Published Dec 11, 2024 · Updated Apr 2, 2026

A SIP bypass in StorageKit in Apple macOS Sonoma before 14.7.3 and macOS Sequoia before 15.2 allows local users to modify protected files. The storagekitd daemon invokes attacker-supplied executables from filesystem bundles without validating them or dropping its inherited com.apple.rootless.install privileges. Root access and a user-triggered Disk Utility or diskutil operation are required; successful exploitation loads a third-party kernel extension and defeats SIP protections.
