CVE-2024-44232

System termination via insufficient video bounds checks

Published Nov 1, 2024 · Updated Apr 2, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in AppleAVD in iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS, and watchOS allows attackers to terminate the system. Apple has not disclosed the exact parser routine or malformed field; AppleAVD fails to enforce sufficient bounds checks on crafted video data. The target must parse attacker-supplied video data, and successful exploitation interrupts availability through unexpected system termination without reported data access or modification.
