Audio disclosure via delayed microphone indicator
Published Oct 3, 2024 · Updated Apr 2, 2026
Information disclosure in Apple iOS before 18.0.1 allows context-dependent attackers to capture audio before the microphone indicator activates. The Media Session component lets Messages begin an audio-message recording several seconds before the privacy indicator, but Apple has not identified the failed check. Exploitation requires user interaction and applies only to all iPhone 16 models; the published vector reports no integrity or availability impact.
