Service crash via malformed or deeply nested JSON
Published May 21, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Denial of service in Google Tink C++ before 2.1.3 allows remote authenticated users to crash consuming binaries via JSON keysets. JsonKeysetReader treats any syntactically valid JSON value as an object and recursively parses deeply nested objects, causing an invalid object access or stack overflow. Reachability requires authenticated access, user interaction, and a consuming application that passes attacker-controlled keyset data to the reader.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
