CVE-2024-44123

Root-privileged keyboard and location data disclosure

Published Oct 28, 2024 · Updated Apr 2, 2026

Permissions flaw in Apple iOS and iPadOS before 18 and macOS before 15 allows local users with root access to read keyboard and location data. Apple identifies Security as the affected component but has not published the permission check that accepts unauthorized access or the restricted operation. A malicious app must already run with root privileges; the documented consequence is reading input and location without consent, not altering data or interrupting service.
