Dashboard setting change via missing authorization
Published Aug 19, 2024 · Updated Oct 29, 2024
Missing authorization in Pi-hole before 6 allows remote attackers to change the web dashboard's CPU temperature unit. The admin/api.php setTempUnit branch lowercases an unauthenticated GET value, restricts it to c, f, or k, and invokes pihole_execute without checking $auth. Reachability requires network access to the web dashboard; the bounded effect is a displayed-unit change, not attacker-controlled command execution.
