Write-what-where in Alibaba Group T-Head XuanTie C910 and C920 RISC-V CPUs allows local users to gain root access. Illegally encoded vector-store instructions treat an operand as a physical rather than virtual address, bypassing process isolation. Any unprivileged code running on affected silicon, including code inside containers or virtual machines, can overwrite kernel memory or MMIO devices.
