Local privilege escalation via unvalidated XPC clients
Published Jun 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Local privilege escalation in Jamf Compliance Editor before 1.3.1 allows local users to execute commands as root through its audit XPC service. The privileged com.jamf.complianceeditor.helper service accepts connections without validating the client code signature and exposes executeScriptAt:arguments:then: for attacker-chosen executables. The helper is installed only after a host audit is performed, after which any local user can invoke it to run arbitrary commands with root privileges.
