Local system crash via unchecked state casts
Published Aug 26, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel AMD Vega 10 power management allows local users to crash the system during GPU power-state handling. When a power-state cast returns NULL, several vega10_hwmgr routines dereference the returned object or its performance-level array without first validating it. Reachability requires local privileges and an affected AMD Vega 10 GPU path; the reported consequence is a system crash, with no data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
