System crash via unchecked display-state pointers
Published Aug 26, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Null-pointer dereference in the AMD display driver in Linux allows local users to crash the system through idle power optimization. dcn30_apply_idle_power_optimizations dereferences its stream and plane variables after an earlier branch treats either value as null. Local low-privileged access is required, and the bounded consequence is a kernel crash on systems exercising the affected AMD display path.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
