Authenticated nonce forgery via unrestricted AJAX action
Published Jun 20, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Averta Depicter 3.0.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to generate arbitrary WordPress nonces. The SecurityAjaxController AJAX handler accepts an attacker-supplied action identifier and passes it to WordPress nonce creation without restricting which actions the caller is authorized to invoke. Contributor-level access is required, and only functions that treat a nonce as the sole authorization control become reachable.
