System crash via unchecked EFI callback
Published Aug 26, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel ASoC cs-amp-lib in 6.9 through 6.10.4 allows local users to crash the kernel. The cs_amp_get_efi_variable function calls efi.get_variable without first using efi_rt_services_supported to verify that the firmware runtime callback exists. Reachability requires the affected ASoC codec path on a system where that EFI service is absent; dereferencing the null callback causes a kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
